Penny Lane Bridal’s bricks & mortar store: Morningside QLD, but selling to the world

Today we had a bit of fun and created a short video of our bricks & mortar store located in Morningside about 7 minutes drive from the center of Brisbane. In this day and age, online appears to be everything, though in the wedding dress industry brides love coming in store to try on wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, accessories and shoes before purchase.

As our online business continues to grow, we want to reinforce to Australia wide and international customers we are a small, dedicated business in the wedding industry providing quality products and service. At Penny Lane Bridal we aim to do things a little differently! We love keeping up to date with new online opportunities including social media, our online shop and now video! Mr K bridesmaid dresses available online or in our Brisbane bridal store

Penny Lane Bridal has been stocking Mr K bridesmaid dresses for quite some time now! We love how many colours Mr K has available and how many figure flattering styles. Sometimes it is quite hard to choose what gowns to stock and in what beautiful colour! With a new range for 2012, Penny Lane Bridal has more new Mr K styles in store now for you to try on. These are also listed for sale on our website at really competitive prices.

You can now buy Mr K Bridesmaid dresses online through www.pennylanebridal.com.au. We offer an option to purchase a colour sample if you are not local in the Brisbane area and want to double check the colour before ordering. Sample colour swatches are only $3 each and have free delivery!

Mr K bridesmaid dresses are manufactured in Australia and they have quite strict order cut off dates. Delivery of Mr K bridesmaid dresses to our store is 13 weeks from these cut off dates. Online orders will then be sent out registered Australia post or by courier. The next Mr K cut off date is June 1 for delivery of dresses at the end of July. If you are having a September wedding this is the second last cut off date to make sure your bridesmaid dresses arrive in time for your wedding. Ordering my June 1 will give you a few weeks to make sure each dress fits your bridesmaids perfectly and allows time for any alterations such as hemming buy your seamstress.

Welcome to Penny Lane Bridal’s April eNewsletter, we hope you had an enjoyable Easter break. We are back from a few days off and feel refreshed and ready to help more brides find their dream wedding dresses!

Many things have changed at Penny Lane Bridal over the last few weeks. We have an ever expanding range of wedding dresses, and more bridesmaid dress styles too! Of course we have expanded our range of bridal hair accessories and now features more amazing hair combs. Additionally we are now stocking amazing lace boleros! Following a photoshoot on April 2nd (see our blog for behind the scenes shots), we are continually adding these new products to our website. Check them out online then see them in real lift in store. Brisbane bridal shop transforms into fashion photographic studio for a day!

Monday April 2, saw Penny Lane Bridal transform from your normal Brisbane wedding dress store into a fashion photographic studio complete with hair & makeup, studio lighting and backdrop. We enlisted the help of gorgeous model Danielle Bonner who wore all of our new gowns, dresses and accessories beautifully, enabling us to get some really great shot for our website.

Hair and Makeup for the shoot was done by Brisbane based beauty, hair & makeup artist Ange from Angelic Essentials (angelatellis@hotmail.com or 0407 732 545) who created a fresh faced look to compliment our colourful bridesmaid dress range and our romantic new wedding dresses. For the hair we opted for a Sarah Jessica Parker type bun, that was understated, classic and neat enabling us to showcase our new range of hair accessories.

Along with a helpful assistant we shot over 25 new dresses and accessories over 3 hours. With over 300 photos to review and edit, we are in the process of getting these new looks online as soon as possible.

Our favourite gowns from the 2012 Oscars.

As the 2012 Oscars began earlier today, they may have been overshadowed by the Gillard/Rudd leadership showdown but those without a political interest focused on the multitude of glamorous stars as they walked the red carpet. We love all of the glamorous gowns, many of which can be used as inspiration for gorgeous wedding dresses! Here is a selection of our favourites.

My absolute favourite was the Tony Ward gown worn my E presenter Giuliana Rancic. I totally loved the lace cap sleeves, back and side seams. The opulent beading on its sheer yoke and back looked so amazing on her figure. Check out these pictures of the front and back we found.

Similarly to the Golden Globes, nudes and soft pastels dominated the Oscars red carpet. We loved Kate Mara who donned a blush pink Elie Saab gown. The lace overlay and the delicately draped one arm feature. Cameron Diaz looked stunning in a glamorous staples gown by Gucci Premiere. Milla Jovovich wore a white one-shoulder sequined Elie Saab floor-length gown.

Some of our favourite celebrities popped in colour! Gorgeous in red, Emma Stone wore a Giambattista Valli gown featuring soft bow tied at the neck. Also in colour, comedian Maya Rudolph wore a purple Johanna Johnson gown with silver detailing on the cap sleeves and waist band. Looking glamorous in coral, Michelle Williams wore a stunning Louis Vuitton dress featuring soft ruffles.

Bayside Bridal Fair – Wrap Up

We had a lovely day at the Bayside Bridal Fair held at the Wynnum RSL Club on Sunday February 12. Open from 10am to 2pm, the inaugural fair saw a flurry of activity as soon as the door opened. With around 100 brides some with their grooms, family and friends snaked their way around the 35 exhibitor stands chatting with local industry professionals showcasing products and ideas to help with wedding day planning.

At the Penny Lane Bridal stand, we showcased a selection of our bridal shoes, with the Tulip bridal shoe proving to be the most popular. Brides were ‘wowed’ by the gold gem textured sole and stiletto heel. Our selection of large hair combs was also very popular. We took along our mobile wedding gown rack and mannequins and displayed some of our fabulous sale dresses, new wedding gowns styles for 2012 and our new bridesmaid dress range, all receiving positive reviews.

A highlight of the day was the mock vow renewal ceremony. Our beautiful bride Kylie had her hair and makeup done by Judith McGoldrick with the gorgeous sweeping barrel roll style featuring a new bridal hair comb from our 2012 range.

Dressed in our new ‘Molly’ gown (white $749) the bride carried an amazing bead & crystal bouquet hand crafted by Monica Anthon from Mad Monnie Designer Jewellery & Beads. Her groom, Nathan dressed by Paul at Ferrari Formal looked very handsome as they renewed their vows. The ceremony, officiated by Civil Marriage Celebrant Glenda Ashleigh was held twice throughout the day was conducted under a beautiful bamboo arch and ceremony set up supplied and styled by Beautiful Illusions - watch the vow renewal ceremony here: Expo Vows Movie

Helping motorists celebrate Valentine’s Day with some bridal cheer

On Valentine’s Day, to make commuter’s smile the ladies from Penny Lane Bridal and Bridal Bliss dressed in wedding dresses and spread cupid’s love to motorists as they travelled to work. Up bright and early to catch the morning traffic on Wynnum Road, Morningside; Rebecca, Natalie and Lauren dressed in gorgeous gowns supplied and stocked by Penny Lane Bridal, set about making commuters wave and toot as they wished commuters a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’.

The vantage point was the centre medium strip outside Penny Lane Bridal and Bridal Bliss which are located side by side on Wynnum Road, Morningside. Armed with signs spreading the cupid’s message and their store logos, the trio waved and smiled at both inbound and outbound lanes of traffic.

Looking gorgeous in their white wedding dresses, motorists; grateful for a little cheer on their mundane Tuesday morning commute tooted their horns, flashed their lights and waved. Natalie from Bridal Bliss was even lucky enough to receive a marriage proposal.

As the brides waved, and the traffic tooted wedding photographer Andrew Merefield from Elite Studio captured the event on camera.
